Location: Summit Care Center Specializing in: Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, and General Orthopaedics, with Special Interest in the Shoulder and Knee Dr. Pierce is a Board Certified orthopaedic surgeon with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Tennessee, and specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy, and general orthopaedics. His active areas of interest include non-surgical and surgical treatment of shoulder and knee disorders. His medical staff affiliations include the Premier Orthopaedic Surgery Center, Summit Medical Center, Summit Surgery Center, Southern Hills Medical Center, and Baptist Hospital. Dr. Pierce graduated from Cherry Creek High School in Denver, Colorado, followed by graduation with a B.A. degree in Biology in 1978 from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. His Medical Degree was achieved in 1982 at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. Dr. Pierce served a surgical internship at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver, which was followed by a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He received fellowships in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy from the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic in Columbus, Georgia and from the Institute for Bone and Joint Disorders in Phoenix, Arizona. He also served as the Medical Director at Holly Health Services, an occupational medicine center in Denver. Dr. Pierce has had a continued interest in sports medicine and has served as the Team Physician for multiple high schools in Milwaukee, Columbus, and Nashville. He also served as the Assistant Medical Director and the Medical Director for the Nashville Knights Hockey Club and the Nashville Ice Flyers Hockey Club. Dr. Pierce was a ranked junior tennis player in both singles and doubles, and was a tennis teaching professional from 1974 to 1981. His spare time is also taken up by fly-fishing, gardening, and carpentry. Dr. Pierce and his wife are the proud parents of two sons and have loved settling in Nashville since their arrival in 1991. |
